For the third year in a row Vienna has been ranked as the city with the best living standard in the world by the Mercer 2011 Quality of Living Survey.

Mercer measures the quality of living for expatriates based on 39 criteria grouped into 10 key categories; Political and Social Environment, Medical and Health Considerations, Public Services and Transport, Consumer Goods, Economic Environment, Schools and Education, Recreation, Housing, Socio-Cultural Environment and Natural Environment.
