WUV Faculty Constitution and Faculty Senate

The WUV Faculty Senate represents the interests of the Faculty of Webster University Vienna and has those powers and duties which have been or may be delegated to it by its constituents and which meet the expectations of the Austrian Accrediting Agency.

The WUV Faculty Constitution is the governing document of the WUV Faculty Senate.  It is based on the understanding that the responsibility and authority for the operation of the university are vested in the position of the Director and final authority over academic quality and rigor are vested in the position of the Academic Director.  The effectiveness of their leadership and decision-making, however, rests upon their understanding of the needs and concerns of the university’s many stakeholders; their access to current and relevant information; their ability to muster a comprehensive choice of options and their ability to elicit the confidence and support of various stakeholders of the university in implementing these decisions.  The same holds true for other administrative elements of the university.  To these ends, the constitution seeks to establish a relationship and process of consultation between the administration of the university (i.e., the Director, the Academic Director, and other key staff functions) and the faculty through the faculty’s representative body (i.e., the WUV Faculty Senate).

The current WUV Faculty Senate is composed of the following faculty members: Johannes Pollak (President), Peter Sunley (Vice President), Eric Frey, Samia Geldner, Andrew Horsfield, Dorothy Kopel, Chris Newman, David Pamphlett, Hanno Poeschl.  It began its two year term of office in Fall II 2013.
