History of Quality

  • Webster University was founded in St. Louis, Missouri, USA in 1915. Since then, Webster has grown to become an international university with more than 100 campuses, serving over 22,000 students, with a network of over 150,000 alumni around the world.   • The Webster Vienna campus was established in 1981. In 2011 we are celebrating the 30th anniversary of providing American education in Austria. Webster University Vienna is the only university in Austria with dual accreditation, both the US accreditation as well as Austrian private university accreditation by the Ministry of Education.
  • In 1985, Webster became the first institution to offer an accredited MBA program in Austria.
  • Webster's undergraduate degrees (BBA, BA and BS) and graduate degrees (MA and MBA) are internationally recognized. With a Webster University Vienna degree you have a dual accredited degree (US and Austria).

Accreditation

Student-centered Philosophy

  • Webster provides a Liberal Arts curriculum with an emphasis on teaching in an interactive seminar format, where students discuss issues with the instructor and each other.
  • The student population of the Vienna campus is around 500 students. Undergraduate classes are capped at 25 students, and graduate classes never have more than 20 students. This allows students, faculty and staff to develop a close working relationships.
  • Teaching methods include lectures, group work, discussions, case study analysis, real life- and research projects coupled with lots of team work and student presentations.

City of Vienna

  • It is a vibrant city with an international population of 1.7 million people.
  • Vienna, Europe‘s music capital with two major operas the renown Vienna Philharmonic, is a safe and clean city with centuries of history, imperial architecture, museums, theaters, cultural festivals, and of course the famous Viennese coffee houses.
  • The city has an excellent infrastruture and public transportation.
  • 50% of the city is “green” with numerous parks, long bike paths, swimming and sailing opportunities on the Alte Donau (only 5 min. from Webster).

Qualified Faculty

  • Webster Vienna faculty members have received their qualifications from highly respected international and Austrian institutions such as Harvard University, Cambridge, Columbia, and the University of Vienna.
  • Most faculty members are employed in their fields of expertise, making courses current, relevant and practical. Professors bring their real life experiences into the classroom.

Academic Program

  • All courses are held in English, allowing students to perfect their language skills on a professional level.
  • The program structure and individual academic advising allows students to complete their studies in a short and predictable amount of time. Each student will be consulted by an Academic Advisor at the beginning of his/her studies so clear program outline will be provided to the student.
  • Students can tailor their Bachelor degree by combining areas of interest, to for example earn a double major or a minor in different academic fields.
  • Students work in teams on projects and case studies.

Flexibility

  • Five terms per academic year provide 5 possible starting times for new students. Each term is 8 weeks long. One semester is 2 terms or 16 weeks long.
  • Undergraduate students take in general 2-3 classes per term (per 8 weeks). These classes are held between 9 a.m.and 6 p.m.
  • All graduate classes are held in the evening ( from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m.), making it possible for students to work and study at the same time.
  • Students can pace their studies according to their personal and professional needs; students may attend the academic program full-time or part-time, and/or can even take a term off if necessary.
  • Payment is on a course-by-course basis, allowing students to manage their expenses in a flexible manner.

Professional Development

  • The Student Internship Program provides Webster students an opportunity to gain practical experience in multinational and local firms.
  • Our Career Development Center can help students to find internships, providing practical experience, skills and resources, which the future employers value on the competitive job market.

Alumni Network

  • Through the Worldwide Webster University Online Community graduates can access the International Career Center, personal homepages, message boards, a chat room, and alumni Yellow Pages.
  • The Alumni Association in Vienna actively stays in touch with alumni through electronic and printed communications and by organizing alumni events.
