Back to topDoctorate in Austria for Webster Alumni
As a Webster graduate there are special guidelines to help you complete your doctorate in Austria.
- If the graduate has not completed a Magister from Vienna University in the same area as the doctorate, then approval must be collected from the department, e.g. Business, Management, Psychology or IR, for registration as a student.
- Each department has a professor assigned to review the student’s credentials and grant the approval. For Business, an MBA graduate will be asked to complete most of the exams from the second part of Magister program, in addition to the normal exams and research work doctoral students have to complete. For International Relations the requirements are less stringent.
- Accepted doctorate students are required to assign a professor to supervise the research which, depending on the professor and department can vary from 2 to 4 years.
- Upon completion the doctorate student must defend his/her dissertation before a jury
- Don’t forget that the Austrian education system is different from the American system and may require some time to adapt.
For more information please visit Students Association of Vienna University website which is also available in English.
