Volunteering

"Those who can, do. Those who can do more, volunteer"   Author unknown

Our Alumni Association and Webster University are to a large extent relying on the help of volunteers. For a small organization like ours, volunteer work is the basis for many services that we offer. Thus, we need you! The rewards for the contribution to our community are the chance to meet new and interesting people and, of course, the gratitude of the Webster Community. There are many ways in which you can volunteer your time to the alumni association whilst having fun. Below you find an overview of some of the most important ones. If you are interested in joining us for any of the activities or support as at an event, please contact Lizabeth Strini-Brown either via E-mail or by phone at +43-1-269 92 93-79.

Open Information Evenings

Webster Vienna regularly hosts Open Information Evenings on campus for prospective students and their families. The Recruitment and Admissions Department invite alumni to attend Open Information Evenings in Vienna but also abroad to present their experience as a past student of Webster Vienna. These personal stories are an important part in the decision process of the applicants and help Webster to attract new students. As a speaker at Webster's recruiting events you can directly contribute to the success of your Alma Mater.

Career Days

Alumni can also volunteer to help out current students by attending Webster Career Days. Students on the verge of completing their degrees are always grateful for any advice they can get from our experienced alumni. Valuable information about job interview techniques, CV’s and work experience can be handed over to students which will assist them in achieving their goals.

Become an Alumni Testimonial

One of the first contact points with Webster is through advertisments or the internet. Since successful Webster Alumni are the best recommendation for the institution, Webster Vienna uses Alumni testimonials for its marketing campaign. Become a Webster Testimonial and help us to attract new students! You can either contribute your personal success story or Webster experience for our Alumni Testimonial or Alumni Career site online, or come for a professional photo shoot as basis for print advertising and other media.

Alumni Ambassador Student Recruitment Program

One of the most important marketing channels for Webster is word-of-mouth. A large percentage of our students come to Webster through the referral of friends, family, or colleagues. We would like to show our appreciation to everyone who brings a new student! Therefore, the Alumni Ambassador Student Recruitment Program was initiated. The Alumni Association is pleased to offer alumni a choice of one free gift as a thank you for each new student they refer who subsequently enrolls in Webster University. Referrals do not apply retroactively to students who have already enrolled. The referral must be received before the referred student starts his or her first term. You will receive your "Thank You" gift by mail during the term that the student officially registers. Webster employees are not eligible to participate in this program.

Alumni Events

Help out at an alumni event, meet and greet new members, volunteer your time at our next professional symposium, career evening or fun get-together. We are always looking for new ideas and locations to hold our events so contact us with your inspirations. These are just a few ways to volunteer your time so how about getting involved and help our Alumni Association grow and develop.

Webster Works Worldwide

Our Webster worldwide network participates annually in the Webster Works Worldwide Community Service Day. More than 2,000 volunteers around the world took part last year and made a lasting difference in someone's life. It is the personal enthusiasm and generosity of spirit that makes this yearly event such a success. The program builds on the University's long tradition of public service and reflects our sincere and heartfelt commitment to bettering the many communities in which we work and live.

Since the start of the Webster Works Worldwide program in 1995, approximately 18,000 volunteers have unselfishly given nearly 80,000 hours of service. This is a truly remarkable achievement. In 2008 Webster students, alumni, faculty and staff participated in an excursion to the Schönbrunn Zoo in Vienna with 15 handicapped students. A wonderful warm contact was made during the private tour of the zoo followed by a shared a picnic lunch supplied by the volunteers. A fantastic experience for all involved. In 2009, ... If you would like more information or to participate in this year’s community service day we would love to hear from you.
