Background and Facts

My background encompasses professional work as a graphic designer for publications, administrative and teaching experience in higher education, and art production.  After completing my Bachelor’s Degree I worked as a graphic designer for publishing firms in Washington D.C. and Cleveland, Ohio, and produced free-lance projects.  I was a member of the faculty of the Department of Housing and Applied Design, University of Maryland, from 1971 t0 1978, and served as Faculty Advisor and Coordinator for the Fashion Design Curriculum. After I left the University of Maryland, I opened my own art studio at Savage Mill, Maryland, and was an active member of the national leather art movement which aimed to promote the use of the unique properties of leather as a medium for fine art production. During this period I exhibited my leather sculpture in national, international, and local juried exhibitions.  I received juror’s awards in several of these exhibitions.

Since moving to Austria, I have focused on photography. I am interested in the often unnoticed aspects of city life.  Recently my work was included in a juror’s choice slide exhibition selected by Elisabeth Sussman, Curator of the Whitney Museum NYC, for the 21th Annual Juried Exhibition sponsored by Viridian Artists Gallery, New York, City.
