Career Development
Dear students,
Even with a solid education, finding a good job can be a tiring process. Job markets all over the world have been sluggish in recent years and your competitors there are increasingly better prepared for the fight over the best jobs out there.
Especially landing that first job can be frustrating. It’s a Catch-22: You want a job so you can gain experience but you have trouble getting hired because you lack the experience.
Unfortunately there are no short-cuts. You must carefully prepare for the job hunt – marketing yourself is the most important marketing project you’ll ever have and its one project that never ends. Deciding for a good education at Webster was your first step in the right direction, now you need to develop your strategy to meet the challenges that lie ahead.
Webster Vienna offers several career related services throughout the year. These range from personal student advising and job evenings, to a seminar series. The following is an overview of the most important career related services and events. Dates will be posted in Calendar.
Webster Vienna Events/ Services
Career Seminar Series (5 Seminars per year, 1 per term): Designed to equip students (and alumni) with the necessary tools, skills and insights for the job hunt. These seminars are free of charge but registration is necessary as space is limited.
Alumni Career Evening
This high profile event is designed to bring successful Webster Alumni on campus, and to give you the opportunity to discuss what it's like in the real business world. It is a great chance to get their advice, hear their personal experiences and gain an insight into various industries with the opportunity to network. Place and time to be announced.
Career Advising Services (all year long)
Hosted by the Students Affairs Office, this service is designed to provide students with an insight into trends and issues in specific industries you might consider applying for. If you feel you need orientation in this respect go to the Student Affairs Coordinator and she/ he will be happy to set up a meeting with a knowledgeable faculty member free of charge.
