Legal Information for Internships
Please note: Most internships are offered to students enrolled in the program first. For some internships enrollment is not necessary. During an internship assignment or job, especially secured via Webster, your performance will not only affect your personal reputation but also that of Webster University. Therefore, it is important to fulfill your duties as outlined in the job or internship description, to understand and honor the employer/internship provider’s policies, practices, dress code and standards of conduct. In case of a problem, please contact the Career Development Office immediately.

Internship at AMEX Import-Export GmbH in Vienna
AMEX is offering a challenging paid full-time internship to a Webster Vienna graduate or undergraduate business or management student. Would you like to get an insight into the different departments of an international trading company? Then this internship will offer a great chance for you to work in a young dynamic international team and gain international experience in marketing, project management, order processing and customer relations.
AMEX was founded in 1970 as a manufacturer’s distributor for marketing, selling and servicing high precision laboratory and medical instrumentation, measuring instruments and supplying consumables for research, universities, industries, hospitals and environmental control. AMEX works with various international organizations such as WHO, IAEA, UNDP or UNIDO serving their demand for high quality laboratory and medical instrumentation. Their main business focuses on Austria, Eastern Europe, Asia, Africa and South America.
During your internship you will be placed in the various departments of the company to support the team and learn about their different activities.
Internship Duration: 6 months / full time (40 hours) starting as soon as possible
Monthly Gross Salary: 1,000 Euros (2 weeks probation time without payment)

Internship Program
for Delegation of the EU to the International Organizations in Vienna
UN Section - What they offer you:
- Follow the activities of different UN-related bodies in Vienna, such as the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, the UN Industrial Development Organization and the International Atomic Energy Agency.
- Monitoring of the many portfolios related to the work of these organizations, including dossiers dealing with drugs, crime, terrorism, industrial development in developing countries and nuclear energy issues.
- Participation at EU and regional group coordination meetings related to these wide-ranging UN issues.
- Working alongside the officials of the Mission, interns will assist in drafting reports and briefings for the European Commission Headquarters in Brussels, which may also be distributed to other EC Delegations, particularly those at other UN sites.
Profile of Applicant:
- Previous UN experience would be an advantage.
- University degree at Master level or equivalent
- Fully proficient in English, written and spoken
- Must show some knowledge of other languages – preferably French and be computer literate.
- Citizens of the European Union; trainees from candidate countries are eligible as well.
- The candidate must not have already benefited from previous in-service training or employment (paid or unpaid) with any of the European institutions or bodies for more than six weeks.
- Five months uninterrupted service and should not pursue any other activity or studies during their internship.

Internship Program
for Delegation of the EU to the International Organisations in Vienna
OSCE Section- What they offer you:
- Get an insight into a broad range of thematic and geographical topics on the OSCE agenda as well as the day-to-day working mechanisms of the OSCE
- Provide an insight into internal EU-coordination mechanisms at multilateral organization as well as the role and working methods of the different EU institutions
- Assist in different meetings and consultations, including OSCE formal and informal meetings and consultations, EU co-ordination meetings and EU Troika meetings
- Monitor developments in the three OSCE dimensions (politico-military, human and economic and environmental dimension)
- Assist in the coverage of a large variety of regional and thematic dossiers, notable through the establishment of reports as well as background notes for the European Commission Headquarters in Brussels and EC Delegations in other OSCE countries.
Profile of Applicant:
- Experience in drafting reports will be regarded as an additional asset
- University degree at Master level or equivalent
- Fully proficient in English, written and spoken

Internships at the UN Refugee Agency
1) PR Internship: You will support the agency with their social media activities, their events and various other activities to promote the mission of the organization. You will be responsible for the update of their website and various other communication related matters, such as updating the daily press clippings etc. You will be able to gain insight to their partnerships with companies, media, VIPs and other institutions.
2) Internship in the UNHCR Liaison Office to the Organization for Security and Co-operation and other international organizations: Amongst others, you will be responsible for the summary and analysis of OSCE discussions, support the team in their information management with various international organizations and help with networking and lobbying for various UN causes at OSCE / UN delegations.

Exclusive internship opportunity for Webster graduate students at OPEC
The Vienna Campus of Webster University is pleased to announce a special partnership with the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). OPEC is offering a challenging one-month internship in the Public Relations and Information Department (PRID) to Webster University graduate students in International Relations. Only one individual will be selected on a rolling basis. This new OPEC-Webster Graduate internship offers a rare opportunity for students currently conducting research or interested in energy related matters to gain access to perhaps the most influential inter-governmental organization in the energy sector. Awardees of the internship will participate in meetings and workshops, gain insight into OPEC’s activities, its working methods, and modes of operation.
Internship Duration: one month (unpaid)
Starting Dates: March, July, November
Profile of the Applicant:
- Graduate student (MA) in International Relations at Webster University (Any Campus).
- A current and strong interest and/or research focus on energy matters, the environment, and/or international political economy.
- A basic understanding of the role of OPEC in the energy sector and the oil market.
- Demonstrated academic achievement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Application Process:
Interested students should:
- Submit a one page policy memo on a current policy issue related to OPEC, its activities, its member countries, and its role in the energy sector and oil market.
- Provide a 150 word abstract of your research interests in the field of energy and how OPEC ties into your specific area of focus. Research that focuses on public relations and information aspects of energy politics and international relations will be preferred.
- Provide a personal brief including a listing of any energy related papers you may have written (scholarly or otherwise) as well as any courses you have taken that involved OPEC in some manner.
- Specify whether or not you are applying for credit. If so provide a written research plan and timeline. (More processing time can be expected).
