Background and Facts

Dr. Berghofer studied Psychology at University of Vienna. As a visiting scholar, she attended a Psychiatric Training Program at the School of Public Health, Columbia University. She is a licensed clinical psychologist and psychotherapist and lecturer for the psychotherapeutic Propädeutikum for the Association of Rogerian Psychotherapy in Vienna.

At the Kuratorium für Psychosoziale Dienste Wien, which is responsible for the outpatient mental health care of the city of Vienna, Dr. Berghofer works as clinical psychologist at the emergency unit, and as scientific researcher at the Department of Quality Assurance. As a psychotherapist, she meets clients in a private practice.

Her fields of interest and research range from psychotherapy with various diagnostic groups to more specific research questions regarding the treatment and well-being of mentally ill persons. To her, the basis for good teaching and learning experiences is the forming of good and reliable relationships with students, enabling work which changes both knowledge and personality.
