Prof. Zimbardo receives honorary doctorate degree
Webster University was proud to award an honorary doctorate degree to psychologist Dr. Zimbardo in May 2007. Webster’s director Dr. Arthur Hirsh expressed his deepest respect: “We are happy and proud to award a scientist of world fame such as Dr. Zimbardo. He looks back on 50 years of teaching experience and sets new standards in the field of Human Psychology.” Webster University and Dr. Zimbardo share a deep bond since the Burnout Congress in 2006. It is therefore that Dr. Zimbardo was invited to deliver a speech at the graduation ceremony in 2007 and offered a one-week intensive seminar for Webster students.
Dr. Zimbardo is a world-recognized American professor emeritus of psychology at Stanford University. He became famous for his prison experiments conducted at Stanford University in the year of 1971. His experiments provided valuable insights into the nature of human behavior when exposed to exceptionally unusual circumstances. His results demonstrated how easily “good” people turn to sadistic monsters when given authority and equipped with power.
