PSYC2300 Lifespan Development

This course studies the development of the individual from conception through adulthood, aging, and death. It examines the emotional, physical, cognitive and social aspects of behavior in terms of the complex interaction of heredity and environment. Content includes the application of prominent theories of human development to the individual's development over the life span.

Students will gain a basic understanding of the cognitive and social development across the lifespan; the interaction between genetic and environmental influences on human development; the basic facts and research findings, terminology, principles, and theories important in the various areas of lifespan developmental psychology; and find ways to apply psychological findings to everyday life.

Prerequisite: PSYC 1100, or permission of the instructor.
