PSYC2825 Introduction to Research Methods

The aim of this course is to practically introduce students to the basic concepts and procedures of research methods that are being used in psychology and the social sciences in general. Therefore, the course will cover the basics of quantitative and qualitative research whereby students will be given the opportunity – in the course of their own research project - to collect & analyze data, and present the results.

Major topics include: the use of scientific method in psychology; experimental design; hypothesis formation; survey construction; data collection & data analysis (including the use of analytical software such as SPSS), and ethics.

Prerequisite: PSYC 1100 and PSYC 2750, or permission of the instructor.
