PSYC3575 Industrial/Organizational Psychology

This class is designed to help students understand the psychology of organizations and of the people working in organizations. Organizational behavior focuses on three levels of analysis: (1) on individuals in organizations, (2) on the dynamics of groups, and (3) on the organization itself. Leadership, coaching, motivation, teams and group processes, decision making, performance appraisal, goal setting, structures of organizations, stress and burnout, organizational culture, and organizational development are some of the topics covered.

The course provides participants with theoretical and practical knowledge about the psychology of people, processes, and structures in organizations. It combines the theory of organizational behavior with experiential learning about the topics discussed.

Prerequisite: PSYC 1100 and 9 credit hours of psychology, or permission of the instructor.
