Portugese artist Silvio Salgado utilizes a structural column in the Gallery space as a focal point for the exhibition and traces its path through the building's public and private spaces. He wraps the column with black and yellow and red and white bands used as warning signals to protect sites from visitors or to protect passers-by from sites. This is a visual metaphor for Salgado's desire to provoke a discussion concerning the limits and boundaries that are established between public and private spheres.
