Balancing a full-time role as a People Services Partner at Bitpanda with her Master of Business Administration (MBA) studies at Webster Vienna Private University (WVPU), Sophie Ciferska is leveraging her background in psychology, and her passion for people management to shape her career in business and human resources.

WVPU: Tell us a bit about you!

SC: I'm from Slovakia, and I am studying for an MBA at Webster Vienna. Previously I earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. I’m passionate about the human side of organizations and how businesses can thrive with the right people management strategies.

WVPU: What are you doing now? And how do you manage that while studying for your MBA?

SC: Since January 2025, I’ve been working full-time as a people services partner at Bitpanda, a position that aligns with my interests in people management. I am managing my time by prioritizing tasks and staying organized, ensuring I can balance my work responsibilities while completing my MBA coursework.

WVPU: How did the Webster Vienna Career Services team help you in your academic or career journeys?

SC: I’ve been part of the mentoring program twice — first during the pandemic, which was a great experience, and again in Fall 2024 because I had enjoyed it so much.

Career Services helped me refine my CV, improve my interview skills and offered valuable networking opportunities. The team also guided me through exploring potential career paths in business and human resources, providing support that has helped me throughout my academic and professional journey.

WVPU: Can you share how your mentor supported you?

SC: My mentors were incredibly supportive, offering advice on career development and personal growth. They helped me navigate the challenges of balancing work and study and gave me insights into the HR field. It was an enriching experience that gave me confidence in my career choices and helped me refine my goals.

WVPU: What advice do you have for other Webster Vienna students?

SC: My advice is to be proactive and take full advantage of the resources Career Services offers. Whether it’s refining your CV, preparing for interviews or seeking advice on career paths, don’t hesitate to reach out. For the mentoring program, make sure to set clear goals for what you want to achieve from the experience and maintain regular communication with your mentor. It’s a two-way relationship, so be open to feedback and use the opportunity to reflect on your personal and professional development.
