At Webster Vienna Private University, ambition and curiosity shape the student experience. Meet Predrag Avejic, a business and management student whose academic journey so far, spans two continents.
Originally from Serbia, Avejic completed his high school education in the United States before returning to Europe for university studies. Now in his second year pursuing a business administration degree at Webster Vienna, he reflects on what brought him to Austria.
“My decision to study in Austria was primarily driven by a desire to immerse myself in a new cultural environment and meet people from diverse backgrounds," he said. "Although I had never visited Austria before, I often heard that Vienna is among the most beautiful cities in the world, which sparked a strong interest in choosing it as my study destination. Additionally, Austria offers a wealth of professional opportunities in my field, making it an ideal place to begin my career.”
While academics play a central role in Avejic's life, his passions extend beyond textbooks. A dedicated basketball player and avid traveler, he’s always eager to stay active and explore new interests.
“After relocating to Austria, I was introduced to padel — a sport rapidly gaining global popularity — and I now actively participate in it. In addition, I enjoy working out, listening to music and exploring historical topics in my free time,” he said.
When asked about standout experiences during his time at Webster, Avejic highlights the impact of his coursework and professors.
“The dedication and enthusiasm of my professors have significantly deepened my interest in areas such as economics, finance and accounting," he said. "Their engaging teaching methods have motivated me to further pursue a career in these fields. The various projects, assignments, group collaborations and classroom activities have provided me with valuable skills and meaningful learning experiences.”
Avejic's academic journey has been complemented by practical career preparation. Two courses — Career Exploration and Career Management Strategies — have begun to prepare him to enter the job market.
“These courses equipped me with essential skills such as job searching, crafting effective CVs, interview preparation, personal branding and networking," he said. "They also encouraged me to attend career events and build connections with industry professionals.”
For students looking to make the most of their time at Webster Vienna, the business major emphasizes the importance of balance — both academically and socially.
“I believe that building strong connections with peers and maintaining positive relationships with professors are key components of a fulfilling university experience," Avejic said. "The community at Webster is welcoming and supportive, making it easy to form friendships. Academically, it is important to stay organized — complete assignments on time, prepare well for exams and actively seek feedback from professors and peers when needed.”
