Understanding aging and psychological well-being across adulthood is important for societies to function. Burcu Demiray, PhD, is working to translate research into action.

Demiray is a lifespan developmental psychologist and a research group leader based at the University of Zurich Department of Psychology & Healthy Longevity Center. Webster Vienna is proud to host her as a visiting professor during the 2025-2026 academic year.

Demiray’s research is working to understand and promote healthy human development and longevity. She is an expert at fostering the translation of psychological research findings into social innovation, for example digital products and services.

This semester she is teaching a PSYCH course called Ageism - A Psychological Perspective. Students are learning what ageism and age discrimination are and receiving an expert overview of research methods for investigating ageism. Her students explore key research findings about the impact of ageism on society.
